Try fopen(".../pci.ids", "re") on Solarish systems as well
Oracle Solaris added support for "e" in the fopen() mode string in
Solaris 11.4.0 (released August 2018).
illumos (also covered under #ifdef __sun) added support for "e"
in 2013 (https://www.illumos.org/issues/3687).
