- update the description of the ramdisk behaviour
- fix a few typos or style issues
- remove 1st-person "methinks" blabla from original author
- shortens the upgrade description, remove completely obsolete stuff
- don't tell the user thrice the differences between the ramdisk and
the miniroot
niklas@ and jj@ had no objections.

floppy (sync with sparc layout)
- meanwhile, comment out one reference to floppy boot which escaped.
|
|
- try to keep description information together, with no duplicate
circumlocutions
- arches which have several floppies shouldn't say there is THE floppy,
then THE floppy, and once more THE floppy. Change plural accordingly for
the general description of earch floppy image possibilities, if more
than one.

|
- remove more sparc'isms. The more you remove, the more there are...
- describe more fun installation methods
- fix a random typo
|
|
- harmonize installation text with other arches (getting boring)
- don't tryp to scare people in the description of the port (rough edges?
come on, come on, almost none)
- add more installation methods (more to come, for rainy days)

- move open firmware 101 to the ``preparation'' section
- don't try to scare people wanting to upgrade, it works well nowadays
- remove the note about not being able to boot from a Zip disk.
thanks to some feedback from drahn@

with other installation notes, and a better place IMHO
- mentions that the 425e is supported, but only using a serial console
- reminds people to switch 400 models to HP-UX mode
- puts the note about the first cylinder reserved for bootblocks at a
better place
- a few style changes: less all caps messages, in particular

Add a list of known to work MBus modules.
Remove mention of manual creation of ttyc and ttyd for 4/300.
Correct the description of le(4) flags.
Mention sun4u are supported by the OpenBSD/sparc64 port.

add dev/ic/apcdmareg.h (and .ph)
fix up perl stuff now that we build shared versions on sparc64

deraadt@ ok.

will do since the two floppy installation is long dead.
And don't even mention it on sparc64 (yet).

- more details for floppy and floppyB
- hardware list updated
- get in sync with other arches: more setup text, at the correct
location, etc.
- remove the list of alpha-related urls, update the ftp.digital.com
addresses for the AXPpci notes (no more available from main site,
but still on ftp.europe and gatekeeper) and firmware availability
- update the description of the bsd.rd procedure to match reality
- and fix a few typos in the process.

for a terminal first, then I/U/S).
While there, remove a duplicated sentence on hp300 and add the complete
bsd.rd installation description to the vax notes.

Sets sizes are still completely bogus, though.

Update the list of unsupported framebuffers: there's no point in
mentioning VME framebuffers, or SBus framebuffers which were never
supported on the UltraSPARC and will probably not work on them
(assuming they would fit in the case, something the cgtwelve can't do).
Make more clear, however, that the kernel will be able to use the
OpenPROM console whatever the framebuffer is.

Describe floppyB. Mention that first floppy has no 264 support, while the
other one has no non-264 support.
|
|
+ removeOpenBSDfloppyB macro, as i386 and alpha need different descriptions
for it.
+ OpenBSDbase and OpenBSDcomp take an optional first parameter to tell if
the architecture has shared libraries or not. If it has no shared
libraries, don't mention them in the descriptions.
