2017-07-10remove misc. depend and yacc nits that no longer matter.Marc Espie
okay millert@
2017-06-16mark files as BUILDFIRST, or write explicit dependencies, so that mostMarc Espie
programs will build even without a make depend first. okay tb@ millert@
2016-09-16Include the legacy_coding(3) page which documents use_legacy_coding(),Nicholas Marriott
probably missed at one update or another. Reported by Anthony Coulter, discussed with jmc.
2016-09-15we do not build the curses _memleaks and _trace stuff apparently,Jason McIntyre
so remove mentions of them; from anthony coulter nicm thinks it's worth making the changes, even though these pages are 3rd party;
2016-07-04DEBUGLIBS has been broken since the gcc4 switch, so delete it. CFLAGSPhilip Guenther
contains -g by default anyway problem noted by Edgar Pettijohn (edgar (at) pettijohn-web.com) ok millert@ kettenis@ deraadt@
2016-05-26Use "cc -E" instead of "cpp". OK deraadt@ natano@Todd C. Miller
2016-03-30for some time now mandoc has not required MLINKS to functionJason McIntyre
correctly - logically complete that now by removing MLINKS from base; authors need only to ensure there is an entry in NAME for any function/ util being added. MLINKS will still work, and remain for perl to ease upgrades; ok nicm (curses) bcook (ssl) ok schwarze, who provided a lot of feedback and assistance ok tb natano jung
2015-12-03Instead of using our own custom BDB terminfo databases, use the ncursesNicholas Marriott
files in /usr/share/terminfo/*. This removes a large difference from upstream ncurses and other systems. ok millert
2015-11-14libocurses can go to the Attic. last consumer of it was ramdisk more(1)Theo de Raadt
conceptual ok guenther millert nicm
2015-11-12fix a typo in NAME and add two missing entries;Jason McIntyre
ok schwarze (i think nicm too, but i'm getting mixed up with oks at the minute...)
2015-11-12the tparam mlink is probably a typo (and duplicate) for tparm, so kill it;Jason McIntyre
spotted by nicm
2015-09-27lint is dead: delete the trivial uses of /* VARARGS[0-9]+ */Philip Guenther
(others require more care)
2014-07-16no more html/curses (i'm effectively undoing -r1.10);Jason McIntyre
2014-07-16lynx has left the tree, and let's be honest noone will find these htmlTheo de Raadt
files in their installed system. this extended documentation experience is available better on the net using a browser installed with pkg_add. (also note that two of the subsystems involved in this issue are heading to the bit bucket sometime soon)
2013-12-10Disable the USE_OLD_TTY hack that re-encoded termios Bnnn speedsChristian Weisgerber
as sgtty Bnnn speeds. This means ospeed has to grow from short to int to hold all possible values. Bump major version. While there, also fix a bug in _nc_baudrate(). ok nicm@, millert@, deraadt@
2013-08-13Switch time_t, ino_t, clock_t, and struct kevent's ident and dataPhilip Guenther
members to 64bit types. Assign new syscall numbers for (almost all) the syscalls that involve the affected types, including anything with time_t, timeval, itimerval, timespec, rusage, dirent, stat, or kevent arguments. Add a d_off member to struct dirent and replace getdirentries() with getdents(), thus immensely simplifying and accelerating telldir/seekdir. Build perl with -DBIG_TIME. Bump the major on every single base library: the compat bits included here are only good enough to make the transition; the T32 compat option will be burned as soon as we've reached the new world are are happy with the snapshots for all architectures. DANGER: ABI incompatibility. Updating to this kernel requires extra work or you won't be able to login: install a snapshot instead. Much assistance in fixing userland issues from deraadt@ and tedu@ and build assistance from todd@ and otto@
2012-12-21remove makefile hacks that are no longer needed with t1 t2: working properlyMarc Espie
okay krw@
2012-08-02remove leftover NOLINT, WANTLINT, LINTFLAGS, LOBJ vars and lint targets.Okan Demirmen
ok guenther@
2011-09-21Add /usr/local/share/terminfo to the search path so that ports canNicholas Marriott
install custom terminfo files. Minor ncurses bump to allow packages to depend on the right version. From discussion with zinke@ and dcoppa@. ok phessler dcoppa
2011-06-23switch to installing source manuals (base part)Ingo Schwarze
discussed with lots of people, tested by naddy@, "move fast" deraadt@
2011-05-30Document why everything in this signal handler is totally unsafe -- it isTheo de Raadt
totally ridiculous to call all sorts of stdio and malloc stuff in a signal handler. These comments have been looked at by nicm, and then passed upstream.
2011-04-23Enable the SIGWINCH handler in ncurses.Nicholas Marriott
Prompted by mail from Mikolaj Kucharski on tech@ and discussion with deraadt@ and millert@. A library installing signal handlers without being asked is seriously wrong but it appears quite a few applications now depend on the ncurses SIGWINCH and it looks to be safe. Safer than the other signal handlers it installs (apparently without request... boke). ok millert
2010-10-18Fix a potential memory leak in an error path (although in code we don'tNicholas Marriott
currently use), spotted by zinovik.
2010-09-11there's a missing full stop here too, which seems to be because ofJason McIntyre
another local variation;
2010-09-11remove a duplicate line; thomas dickey has confirmed this issue is notJason McIntyre
present in upstream sources, so it must be a local bug;
2010-09-06Enable wide character support in ncurses. It is built into libcurses,Nicholas Marriott
libform, libmenu, libpanel and each library is also linked to a corresponding "w" version. This is a major bump for all four libraries. Thanks to landry, stsp, sthen, naddy, oga, Martin Pieuchot, and anyone else I've forgotten for testing. ok naddy krw deraadt
2010-01-14Restore an if that got lost in the update.Nicholas Marriott
Fixes problems with editors/joe reported by benoit@.
2010-01-12Update to ncurses 5.7, with local changes reapplied.Nicholas Marriott
This is around eight years worth of changes (previously we were around ncurses 5.2), too many to list - many bug fixes and also a few new functions. A major bump for libcurses, libpanel, libform and libmenu. ok deraadt
2009-11-11memory leaks, found by parfait; ok millertTheo de Raadt
2009-10-28a few leftovers from yesterday's SCCS/RCS-ID removal;Ingo Schwarze
survived a full make build on i386; "sure" deraadt@
2009-10-28rcsid[] and sccsid[] and copyright[] are essentially unmaintained (andTheo de Raadt
unmaintainable). these days, people use source. these id's do not provide any benefit, and do hurt the small install media (the 33,000 line diff is essentially mechanical) ok with the idea millert, ok dms
2009-10-18terminfo supports the use= capability (tc= in termcap), to allow oneNicholas Marriott
description to reference another. If this is used, any capabilities in the parent terminal description should override those pulled in by use=. When cap_mkdb is building terminfo.db, it concatenates any use= references together so each description is self-contained. However, the ncurses terminfo implementation doesn't expect this - it assumes it will have to resolve use= itself, and picks the last entry in the description created by cap_mkdb rather than the first. read_bsd_terminfo.c already makes some transformations to make ncurses happy with the format in the database. So, extend this to trim out duplicate entries, leaving only the first. (Interestingly, ncurses already has code to correctly handle merged tc= capabilities in termcap.db (used if terminfo.db is missing).) "go ahead" deraadt@
2009-08-28Change cap_mkdb and curses to be a better about reformatting terminfo entriesNicholas Marriott
into the cap database format and back: rather than replacing all colons with commas, only touch real separators (skip those with a leading \ or ^) and replace an unadorned colon with a literal "\072". Fixes problems with quite a few caps including acsc in "screen" (:s instead of ,s) and setab/initc in "xterm-256color" (wrongly concatenated together). ok millert

2006-10-10fgets(3) returns NULL on error, not 0. No functional change, but it makesChad Loder
the code easier to read. OK deraadt
2006-05-14lint warns about some fishy type conversion.Marc Espie
Indeed, some ints can be silently shortened to unsigned short. Since those functions can return errors, do not convert spurious parameters to the wrong values, but return an error code instead. Tested for ill effects without any noticeable problems. okay millert@, otto@
