2003-01-09Remove fetch(9) and store(9) functions from the kernel, and replace the fewMiod Vallat
remaining instances of them with appropriate copy(9) usage. ok art@, tested on all arches unless my memory is non-ECC
2002-12-17Make SysV-style shared memory and semaphore limits sysctl'able.Todd C. Miller
Instead of allocating a static amount of memory for the data structures via valloc() in allocsys(), allocate things dynamically using pool(9) when possible and malloc(9) when not. The various members of struct seminfo and struct shminfo are in kern.seminfo and kern.shminfo respectively (not all members of kern.seminfo are changable). The data structures used still leave something to be desired but things are not made worse in that respect by this commit.

produce typo fixes, but the typo pool is infinite.
2002-12-05remove altq entries.Kenjiro Cho
altq is merged into pf and handled through pf.
2002-11-07Small simplification in sendsig.Artur Grabowski
In sys_sigreturn - don't uvm_useracc the context address and then copyin it afterwards. The copyin deals better with finding if the user address is correct and it's faster.
2002-10-12Remove more '\n's from panic() statements. Both trailing and leading.Kenneth R Westerback

2002-10-07this removes the functionality of adding allocatedMichael Shalayeff
pages into the queue already containing allocated pages. breaks i386:setup_buffers() because of this.
2002-10-06No more need to initialize the result list before uvm_pglistalloc.Artur Grabowski
2002-09-10Change the pmap_zero_page and pmap_copy_page API to take the struct vm_page *Artur Grabowski
instead of the pa. Most callers already had it handy and those who didn't only called it for managed pages and were outside time-critical code. This will allow us to make those functions clean and fast on sparc and sparc64 letting us to avoid unnecessary cache flushes. deraadt@ miod@ drahn@ ok.
2002-08-24aperture driver for alpha. It works here the same as on i386Matthieu Herrb
to allow access to VGA card's memory by mmapping /dev/xf86. The macdep.allowaperture does also control /dev/pci access. Ok miod@, deraadt@
2002-07-24Pretty nasty hack to make non-exec mappings work.Artur Grabowski
Instead of using FOE for just emulating references, we also keep track of a pages executability and don't remove the FOE bit if the page is not executable. This is implmented with horrible hacks. Maybe when I have time, I'll reimplment the whole pmap to allow this without ugly hacks (read: probably not this decade). The stack on alpha is now non-exec.

2002-07-20Instead of copying out the signal trampoline on top of the stack, createArtur Grabowski
an uvm aobj, copy out the signal trampoline into it and share that page among all processes for the same emulation. This also requires us to actually be able to tell signal code where the trampoline is located, so introduce a new field in struct proc - p_sigcode that is a pointer to sigcode. This allows us to remove all the ugly calculations of the signal trampoline address done in every sendsig function in the tree (that's why so many files are changed). Tested by various people. ok deraadt@

2002-06-30AlphaServer 800 and 1000 support; from NetBSD. Tested by Tor Houghton.Miod Vallat
Added to floppy31 still fits.
2002-06-28The IEEE fp stuff changed the rules for how fpu should be enabled.Artur Grabowski
We kept too much of the old code in trap handling. This should fix floppies and bsd.rd on some machines.
2002-06-25No \n at the end of a panic() message... I thought all occurences had beenMiod Vallat
squashed already.
2002-06-24move cdev_decl() for usb devices into one place.Michael Shalayeff
usage of cdev_decl() in the driver code is more tricky since i have kqueue mods here and there and will fix that on that way through.

2002-06-11Setup the ulpt device structures with cdev_ulpt_init, not cdev_lpt_init.Miod Vallat
And yes, they are different macros with different results.
2002-06-08Always keep the symbols, don't hand that memory to the VM system.Artur Grabowski
In most cases we'll have either DDB or /dev/ksyms and if someone really needs the memory they'll strip the kernel. Fixes alpha/2705.

2002-05-18Until we start supporting various modifiers to trace, we haveArtur Grabowski
to treat the 'addr' the same way on all archs. This means that alpha can't do anything with the addr because we need a complete trap frame to be able to print a trace.
2002-05-18Rename the MD db_stack_trace_cmd to db_stack_trace_print. Add an argumentArtur Grabowski
that specifies which printf funciton it should use. Implement db_stack_trace_cmd in MI code. Thanks to miod@ for all the tests.
2002-05-16Add systrace support to all the remaining architectures.Miod Vallat
Tested by various people on various platforms, I'm willing to fix any breakage this causes. ok niels@ deraadt@ and mickey@ (after his comments were applied)
2002-05-16Add a an argument to db_printsym that specifies the printf functionArtur Grabowski

2002-05-02Add a type specifier for intrnames, eintrnames, intrcnt, and eintrcnt.Todd C. Miller
Without this, n_type in struct nlist ends up as N_UNDF for those symbols which makes vmstat -i unhappy. mido@ OK
2002-05-02Big TURBOchannel support catchup from NetBSD, part 1.Miod Vallat
A few local changes and tweaks remain. This bring DEC 3000 machines back in the game, but framebuffers are still not supported at the moment. Thanks to ericj@ and nate@ for supplying me a DEC 3000 for testing.

2002-04-28IEEE 754 floating point completion code, and implementation of thePeter Valchev
FP_C (Floating Point Control Quadword). From ross@NetBSD. Added a way to disable it with option NO_IEEE, which appears on the ramdisks to save space. This affects only programs compiled with -mieee, and what it essentially does is enabling infinities and NaNs, instead of generating SIGFPE on division by zero, overflow, etc. ok art, deraadt

2002-03-14Turn the ptrace(2) syscall into a kernel compile option, option PTRACE inMiod Vallat
your kernel configuration file. By default, GENERIC will enable this. When PTRACE is not enabled, several ptrace-like features of the procfs filesystem will be disabled as well (namely, the ability to read and write any process' registers, as well as attching, single stepping and detaching to/from processes). This should help paranoid people build better sandboxens, and us to build smaller ramdisks.

2002-02-17Patch from Daniel Lucq <daniel@lucq.org>Mats O Jansson
The patch allows you to change the value of NMBCLUSTERS, BUFCACHEPERCENT and NKMEMPAGES using the config command, instead of recompiling the kernel. This is the kernel part of the patch. I have compiled it on i386, sparc64, alpha and macppc. -moj ok art@ maja@
