2007-05-29Improve copyinstr and copyoutstr by erroring out when the userlandTom Cosgrove
pointer is VM_MAXUSER_ADDRESS right up front, rather than when startig the loop. This is how it is done on i386. ok weingart@ art@
2007-05-29only the i810 is known to be needed for agp, reduce driver set to just thatTed Unangst

2007-05-29start of dumpconf() unification, which one day we can pray will be MITheo de Raadt

2007-05-29Some improvements for better intel cpu support.Ted Unangst
Add EST support from i386, minus the tables Also add in support for CPU temperature sensors, based on diff to tech by Pierre Riteau. ok deraadt gwk
2007-05-29Updated disklabel format to support larger disks and partitions. WeOtto Moerbeek
free room in struct partition by packing fragment size and fragments/block more tighlty and use the resulting space to make offset and size 48 bits. For the disk part we use spare fields in struct disklabel. Kernel converts in-mem copy of the on-disk label if needed, disklabel(8) writes new version. We are careful to only change fields not used by bootloaders. Conception of basic scheme by deraadt. ok deraadt@ krw@
2007-05-29Refactor readdisklabel() to ensure there is a single point of return, inKenneth R Westerback
preparation for translating all disk labels visible to the kernel to the soon to arrive V1 format. ok otto@ deraadt@

2007-05-29Add a name argument to the RWLOCK_INITIALIZER macro.Thordur I. Bjornsson
Pick reasonble names for the locks involved.. ok tedu@, art@
2007-05-29remove support for many alternative kernel choices -- only try /bsd andTheo de Raadt
not the other stupid names. that feature was retarded. tested on a few architectures by a few people
2007-05-28bio for all archs, ok krw@ kettenis@ sounds good marco@ go for it deraadt@Todd T. Fries
2007-05-28Move the MSIZE, MCLSHIFT, MCLBYTES and the MCLOFSETThordur I. Bjornsson
mbuf constants from MD param.h to MI param.h. Besides being the same on every arch, things will most probly break if any arch has different values then the others. The NMBCLUSTERS constants needs to be MD though; ok miod@,krw@,claudio@
2007-05-28Remove the Archive/Wangtek cartidge tape driver, wt(4). All tapes areKenneth R Westerback

2007-05-27remove two TODO items:Jason Wright
- map the GART page table uncached - disable table walk probes
2007-05-27add pmap_(un)map_nc_direct() macro's to match the non-nc versionsJason Wright
2007-05-27pagemove() is no longer used.Miod Vallat

2007-05-27Use the direct maps (cached on uncached) for bus_space mappings.Artur Grabowski
jason@ ok
2007-05-27- Redo the way we set up the direct map. Map the first 4GB of itArtur Grabowski
in locore so that we can use the direct map in pmap_bootstrap when setting up the initial page tables. - Introduce a second direct map (I love large address spaces) with uncached pages. jason@ ok

2007-05-25Define rw_cas. Trivially simple on amd64 with atomic_cas_ul.Artur Grabowski
miod@ ok
2007-05-25Change the old slow and complicated TLB shootdown code to new, fast andArtur Grabowski
simple. This is basically the same code as on i386 and basically the same performance improvements. This change also includes code to delay the freeing of ptps until they have been properly shot. in snaps for a week, no problems reported.
2007-05-23Print real/available memory in MB as well as bytes in dmesg, and unifyPeter Valchev
architectures to print it the same way. ok henning, miod; i386 part from tom
2007-05-22enable uts(4) - USB touchscreen supportRobert Nagy
2007-05-21Implement deep interrupt swizzling by mapping all four PCI interrupt pinsMark Kettenis
for PCI-PCI bridges and passing the mapping to the attached bus device. MD code can use these when mapping PCI device interrupts. This diff adds such code for amd64 and i386. This fixes interrupt mapping for devices that sit behind two PCI-PCI bridges where the firmware only provides a mapping for the first PCI-PCI bridge. tested by sturm@, krw@, and a few others, ok deraadt@
2007-05-19(disabled) option for PCIAGP. at least lets i945 chipsets workTed Unangst

2007-05-18Instead of checking whichqs directly, add a "sched_is_idle()" macro toArtur Grabowski
sys/sched.h and use that to check if there's something to do. kettenis@ thib@ ok
2007-05-18remove the COMPAT entries. they are not useful hereTed Unangst
2007-05-16splassert_ctl defaults to 1 now, so dont wrap the checks forThordur I. Bjornsson
splassert_ctl > 0 in __predict_false(). ok deraadt@
2007-05-16The world of __HAVEs and __HAVE_NOTs is reducing. All architecturesArtur Grabowski
have cpu_info now, so kill the option. eyeballed by jsg@ and grange@
2007-05-15Switch amd64 to VM_PAGE_MD. Mostly just imitating i386. flags in pg_flags.Artur Grabowski
deraadt@ ok
2007-05-15Remove the MI implementation of mutexes and remove the __HAVE_MUTEXArtur Grabowski
option. Every architecture implements mutexes now.
2007-05-15kill __HAVE_DEVICE_REGISTER by requiring all architectures to have aTheo de Raadt
device_register() function -- even if it does nothing. reduces the cpp-based blather different between architectures idea ok'd by miod; tested on all architectures (except a few miod will need to cleanup because he has them)
2007-05-11Don't use LK_CANRECURSE for the kernel lock, okay miod@ art@Pedro Martelletto
2007-05-10evcnt & friends were replaced by a proper interrupt counting mechanism 3 ↵Theo de Raadt

2007-05-06Add the mp setperf mechanism to AMD64, like its i386 counterpart it allowsGordon Willem Klok
all cpus in a system supporting frequency and voltage scaling to be scaled by the same amount corresponding to the user (or apmd on their behalf) performance level. This diff also teaches amd64 about acpi_hasprocfvs (ACPI has processor frequency and voltage scaling). It also moves initilization of the underlying setperf mechanism such as powernow to mainbus from the cpu indentification and initilization code inspired by similar changes dim@ made to i386 durring h2k6. This is necessary to implement the AMD recommended method for retreiving p_state data from the ACPI _PSS object (a diff comming soon). It will also simplify the potential addition of enhanced speedstep as found on newer intel processors with EMT64 capable of running OpenBSD/amd64. MP setperf functionality verifed by myself and Johan M:son Lindman <tybolt AT solace DOT miun DOT se> on opteron 265 and 270 systems respectively. General testing done by many others thanks! ok tedu, dim

2007-05-04setroot() was a ugly mix of MI and MD code, with different bugs on differentTheo de Raadt
machines. Instead -- build one solid clean MI version, and thenchange all the architectures to use it. ok various people, tested on almost all cases. (it is a 10094 line diff..)
