2008-06-08Change boot() logic, to match what other platforms do and avoid duplicatingMiod Vallat
code in the cold case.
2008-06-08alpha/conf/RAMDISKTheo de Raadt
2008-05-21Remove <machine/elf_abi.h> on platforms which have it. Nothing in the treeMiod Vallat
needs the few MD definitions they (sometimes) provide; only binutils is interested in them, but binutils provide their own include files for that purpose anyway. ok deraadt@ kettenis@
2008-05-19Change all remaining MD uses of MALLOC and FREE into proper malloc() andMiod Vallat
free() calls; prodded by chl@, ok krw@
2008-04-21allow low level audio drivers to specify a default sample format,Jacob Meuser
instead of 8-bit mono mulaw @ 8kHz. this is just the infrastructure; no drivers are specifying a default yet. ok ratchov@, deanna@
2008-04-18use arc4random_uniform() for random number requests that are not aDamien Miller
power of two. use arc4random_bytes() when requesting more than a word of PRNG output. ok deraadt@
2008-04-12Compile kernels with -Wvariable-decl (except on arches with ipmi, for now).Miod Vallat
2008-03-23setroot() is supposed to be safe in all cases, so kill the special casesTheo de Raadt
for RB_DFLTROOT; ok miod
2008-02-24Add commented out Bluetooth HID sectionUwe Stuehler
ok deraadt
2008-01-23Cleanup cn_pri. Change constants to more meaningful names, rather thanJoel Sing
the hp300 related ones currently in use. CN_NORMAL becomes CN_LOWPRI, CN_INTERNAL becomes CN_MIDPRI and CN_REMOTE becomes CN_HIGHPRI. ok miod@
2008-01-14Enable umbg(4) on the Zaurus.Marc Balmer
ok mglocker, claudio.
2008-01-03Move zaurus to __HAVE_TIMECOUNTER.Mark Kettenis
ok deraadt@
2007-12-27use TAILQ_FOREACH when possible instead of manuallyThordur I. Bjornsson
rolling it. ok todd@, miod@;
2007-12-05include files which are used by userland cannot include other files..Theo de Raadt
which are not installed to userland; ok drahn
2007-11-30Define NORMAL_C_NOP everywhere.Miod Vallat
2007-11-26few more dribbles of LIBKERN cleanupTheo de Raadt
2007-11-25libkern, begone. Move to a new mechanism where config(8)'s "file"Theo de Raadt
directive can select between MI and MD versions of these files. At the same time, adjust the boot programs to pick exactly what they need, instead of the 7 or 8 mechanisms previously used. There will be some fallout from this, but testing it all by myself is a ridiculously slow process; it will be finished in-tree. Various developers were very nice and avoided making fun of me when I was gibbering in the corner..
2007-11-25Get rid of the kernel 'libcompat' framework, and instead use conf/files toTheo de Raadt
decide which files must be pulled into the kernel. Also conditionalize the pulling of those files based on the COMPAT_* options.
2007-11-05audio encoding conversion cleanupJacob Meuser
- the endianness of the conversions don't depend on the endianness of machine the conversions are built on, but the endianness of the audio data itself. choose encoding conversions explicitly, instead of relying on #defines based on the endianness of the machine. - replace home-grown conversions with comparable conversions in auconv.c and mulaw.c - use the proper conversion for ulinear_be:16 -> slinear_le:16 in auixp(4) thanks ajacoutot@ and sthen@ for !x86 testing
2007-10-06Oops. Forgot to do FREE -> free when I did MALLOC -> malloc.Kenneth R Westerback
2007-10-03MALLOC+bzero -> malloc+M_ZERO.Kenneth R Westerback
In ip_esp.c all allocated memory is now zero'd in the "malloc(sizeof(*tc) + alen ..." case. The +alen memory was not initialized by the bzero() call. Noticed by chl@. "Looks good" art@ "seems ok" chl@
2007-09-17Only the most obvious bzero() -> M_ZERO changes. No cast changes, noKenneth R Westerback
MALLOC/FREE, etc. Just adding M_ZERO to malloc() and deleting an immediately adjacent bzero().
2007-09-09uchcom(4) has been verified to work by djm@, so add it to allJonathan Gray
USB capable archs.
2007-08-05Enable Compact Flash driver for the Marvell 88W8385 chip inMarcus Glocker
zaurus, amd64, and i386 GENERIC. OK claudio@, deraadt@
2007-07-30Shuffle the order in which we look for header files, when doingThordur I. Bjornsson
kernel builds locally this doesnt change much but over NFS this cuts about 12% of the build time on my setup (i386). OK miod@, deraadt@.
2007-06-27wt(4) was removed a while ago, so don't support booting off it anoymore.Michael Knudsen
i386/amd64 was ok tom zaurus ok drahn
2007-06-20b_cylinder does not need to be set on the callpath down into drivers.Theo de Raadt
cpu_disklabel can go away, since nothing anymore needs to use it; ok miod
2007-06-17significantly simplified disklabel infrastructure. MBR handling becomes MITheo de Raadt
to support hotplug media on most architectures. disklabel setup and verification done using new helper functions. Disklabels must *always* have a correct checksum now. Same code paths are used to learn on-disk location disklabels, to avoid new errors sneaking in. Tested on almost all cases, testing help from todd, kettenis, krw, otto, dlg, robert, gwk, drahn
2007-06-16When EOVERFLOW was added, it broke the zaurus bootblocksTheo de Raadt
2007-06-08include files.bluetooth, so that bluetooth support can be compiled,Jasper Lievisse Adriaanse
if enabled. ok gwk@
2007-06-08all drivers should spoof version 1 labelsTheo de Raadt
2007-06-05use six new macros to access & store the 48-bit disklabel fields relatedTheo de Raadt
to size. tested on almost all machines, double checked by miod and krw next comes the type handling surrounding these values
2007-06-01some architectures called setroot() from cpu_configure(), *way* before someTheo de Raadt
subsystems were enabled. others used a *md_diskconf -> diskconf() method to make sure init_main could "do late setroot". Change all architectures to have diskconf(), use it directly & late. tested by todd and myself on most architectures, ok miod too
2007-05-31Add Bluetooth drivers to GENERIC (not enabled - we still have ways to go)Uwe Stuehler
ok gwk, deraadt
2007-05-31convert to new .Dd format;Jason McIntyre
2007-05-29Make use of struct wsmouse_calibcoords and add ioctl supportRobert Nagy
for getting and passing calibration values instead of using sysctl. Move the scale struct to uts_softc so that each device can have it's own values instead of using the global one. Remove the two MD sysctl (ztsscale and ztsrawmode). ok deraadt@
2007-05-29remove support for many alternative kernel choices -- only try /bsd andTheo de Raadt
not the other stupid names. that feature was retarded. tested on a few architectures by a few people
2007-05-19Kernel crash dump support for arm-based platform, with minimal support inMiod Vallat
libkvm, but all the necessary information for a complete _kvm_kvatop() is available in the crash dump.
2007-05-15Remove the MI implementation of mutexes and remove the __HAVE_MUTEXArtur Grabowski
option. Every architecture implements mutexes now.
2007-05-15Dummy mutex code for arm platforms. ok drahn@ deraadt@Miod Vallat
2007-05-15kill __HAVE_DEVICE_REGISTER by requiring all architectures to have aTheo de Raadt
device_register() function -- even if it does nothing. reduces the cpp-based blather different between architectures idea ok'd by miod; tested on all architectures (except a few miod will need to cleanup because he has them)
2007-05-04make findblkmajor() and findblkname() MI; ok miodTheo de Raadt
2007-05-04setroot() was a ugly mix of MI and MD code, with different bugs on differentTheo de Raadt
machines. Instead -- build one solid clean MI version, and thenchange all the architectures to use it. ok various people, tested on almost all cases. (it is a 10094 line diff..)
2007-04-10Add support for a fourth axis on wsmouse devices, e.g. on the Apple MightMiod Vallat
Mouse. Currently limited to USB mice. Adapted from a diff from Gareth <garf@loveandnature.co.za> on tech@

2007-03-29Add power hook to scoop(4), replacing the Zaurus-specific scoop_* calls inUwe Stuehler
pxa2x0_apm.c. Set a flag to indicate that scoop is currently suspended. Test this flag in scoop_timeout() (and maybe later in other places) to avoid manipulating scoop registers while the driver is suspended. The scoop_checkdisk timeout is intentionally not stopped, as it should be safe to have timeouts running accross suspend/resume. Put splhigh() in scoop_gpio_pin_write() to make changing the pin level an atomic operation. Result of prodding and diffs from Robert and Theo.
2007-03-27only actually change the drive LED state if there was a real state change;Theo de Raadt
tested by robert and myself
2007-03-26software-driven drive light code, using a timeout. uwe wrote some codeTheo de Raadt
initially that used a disk_busy() hook, but this uses a lot less cpu and is MD; ok uwe
2007-03-21remove extra *p test, from charles longeauTed Unangst
ok deraadt millert
2007-03-18Enable pxammc and sdmmc in RAMDISK, too.Uwe Stuehler
