directive can select between MI and MD versions of these files. At
the same time, adjust the boot programs to pick exactly what they need,
instead of the 7 or 8 mechanisms previously used.
There will be some fallout from this, but testing it all by myself is a
ridiculously slow process; it will be finished in-tree.
Various developers were very nice and avoided making fun of me when I
was gibbering in the corner..

decide which files must be pulled into the kernel. Also conditionalize
the pulling of those files based on the COMPAT_* options.

- the endianness of the conversions don't depend on the endianness
of machine the conversions are built on, but the endianness of the
audio data itself. choose encoding conversions explicitly, instead
of relying on #defines based on the endianness of the machine.
- replace home-grown conversions with comparable conversions in
auconv.c and mulaw.c
- use the proper conversion for ulinear_be:16 -> slinear_le:16 in
auixp(4)

In ip_esp.c all allocated memory is now zero'd in the
"malloc(sizeof(*tc) + alen ..." case. The +alen memory was not
initialized by the bzero() call. Noticed by chl@.

MALLOC/FREE, etc. Just adding M_ZERO to malloc() and deleting an
immediately adjacent bzero().

to support hotplug media on most architectures. disklabel setup and
verification done using new helper functions. Disklabels must *always*
have a correct checksum now. Same code paths are used to learn on-disk
location disklabels, to avoid new errors sneaking in. Tested on almost all
cases, testing help from todd, kettenis, krw, otto, dlg, robert, gwk, drahn

sysctl.
Move the scale struct to uts_softc so that each device can have
it's own values instead of using the global one.
Remove the two MD sysctl (ztsscale and ztsrawmode).

pxa2x0_apm.c.
Set a flag to indicate that scoop is currently suspended. Test this flag
in scoop_timeout() (and maybe later in other places) to avoid manipulating
scoop registers while the driver is suspended. The scoop_checkdisk timeout
is intentionally not stopped, as it should be safe to have timeouts running
accross suspend/resume.
Put splhigh() in scoop_gpio_pin_write() to make changing the pin level an
atomic operation.
Result of prodding and diffs from Robert and Theo.

We use the suggested workaround for the problem E40 in the PXA27x errata
sheet. Unfortunately this limits the bus speed to 9.75Mhz.

right now that are supposed to be atomic with respect to interrupts and
SMP: atomic_setbits_int and atomic_clearbits_int.
All architectures other than i386 and amd64 get dummy implementations
since at first we'll be replacing operations that are done with
"a |= bit" and "a &= ~bit" today. More proper implementations will follow
