.Sh DESCRIPTION
.Nm
is a stateless address autoconfiguration (SLAAC) daemon.
It listens for IPv6 router advertisement messages on interfaces that are
configured with
.Xr ifconfig 8
using
.Cm autoconf
for IPv6 autoconfiguration.
From the router advertisements it constructs address proposals and sends them
to
.Xr netcfgd 8 .
.Pp
.Nm
monitors network interface states (interface going up or down,
autoconfiguration enabled or disabled etc.) and sends router solicitations
when necessary.

.Nm
is usually started at boot time, and can be enabled by
setting the following in
.Pa /etc/rc.conf.local :
