In this scheme client applications request +services from a server process. This implies an asymmetry in establishing +communication between the client and server which has been examined +in section 2. This involves periodically +acquiring system status information, packaging it up in a message +and broadcasting it on the local network for other rwho servers +to hear. The supply function is triggered by a timer and +runs off a signal. Locating the system status +information is somewhat involved, but uninteresting.
